4 Great Sports To Do At The Beach

Aruba Beach

The beach is a great place to relax in the sun and maybe take a dip in the ocean. But some people get bored of sitting around doing nothing after a while and they want something a bit more exciting. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of great beach sports that you can get involved with while you’re down by the sea. If you’re fed up with sunbathing, here are some great beach sports to try.

Wakeboarding is the ideal sport for adrenaline junkies. You’ll be on a small board with a parachute that pulls you around with the wind. It’s great fun once you get the hang of it but expect to fall over quite a few times while you’re learning. You can rent equipment at a lot of beaches or you can buy it from companies like boaters warehouse for a decent price. It’s best to get an instructor the first few times you go wakeboarding because it can be difficult to get the hang of and you’ll need some help with the basics. It’s a very demanding sport so it’s a great way to get a good workout at the same time as enjoying yourself at the beach.

christmas island fishing

If wakeboarding seems a little too fast paced for you and you’re looking for a gentler sport at the beach, why not go fishing. A lot of beaches have great fishing piers that you can use or you could hire a boat and head out to sea. Once you’ve got a basic fishing kit with all of the essentials, you’re good to go. Just remember that fishing is all about patience and there’s no guarantee that you’re going to catch something every time. If you’re not a patient person, fishing probably isn’t for you.

Beach Football

The nations favourite game can just as easily be played on the beach and it makes for hours of fun. It’s also one of the cheapest options on the list because you just need a ball and a group of friends and you’re ready to go. It’s a more exciting game than normal football because the sand makes things a lot more unpredictable than the grass.

Surfing is the original and ultimate beach sport. You’ll only be able to do it in certain places, along the south coast is probably best, because you need big waves to surf properly. Just like wakeboarding, you probably want to get some lessons first. You’d be surprised just how difficult it is to stand up, let alone actually surf any waves. Most beaches that have waves good enough for surfing will have somewhere to hire surfboards and get some lessons on the basics. Surfing can get pretty dangerous so it’s not advisable to go out on your own, especially if you’re a beginner. Always go with a friend and don’t go too far out so you don’t get into any trouble out there.

These are all great sports for people that get bored of sunbathing all day long when they’re at the beach.
