2019 – The Year For Comeback TV Shows

We all know that even the most loved TV shows must, at some point, come to an end. Actors get old, producers move on, and the shows themselves get a bit dated. But that doesn’t mean that everything we know and love is gone forever. In fact, 2019 is looking to be a good year for comebacks.

Atlanta Season Three

Atlanta, the US comedy-drama series is returning in 2019, starring Donald Glover in the lead role. He will be joined by the likes of Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry in this fabulously entertaining and highly rated series. Already the twice-winner of the Golden Globe Award for best TV series, Atlanta promises to continue to excite and entertain audiences as Glover, the college dropout, continues to make hilarious and reckless decisions.

Ballers Season Five

Perhaps one of the most anticipated renewed TV shows, Ballers, starring Dwayne Johnson, will return for a fifth season on HBO. Ballers follows a group of football stars and their lives with their families and friends. The comedy-drama follows the like Spencer Strasmore, Johnson’s character, as he tries to navigate a career in the NFL. Most people who follow the series say that the first season was the best, with an 82 per cent positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and that the second and third seasons were a little lacklustre. Here’s to hoping that season five will energise audiences and return them to the magic of the first.

Billions Season Four

Starring Brian Koppelman and David Levia, billions follows the story of a group of financial businesses men hellbent on success. Many fans are excited that the drama is returning to the small screen in 2019, thanks to the complexities of the lead characters. Damian Lewis plays Robert Axelrod, a man who is both generous because he gives to charity, and criminal owing to his penchant for bribery and corruption. Next season promises to bring us new, exciting and believable characters.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season Six

Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, much to the dismay of fans. But thanks to some a last-minute deal with NBC, the show will be returning to the airwaves in 2019.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows the life of an immature NYPD cop, Jake Peralta, who is in constant conflict with his commanding officer, Raymond Holt. The story follows the relationship between the two men as they attempt to fight crime in the city they love. A hilarious sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine provides an insight into some of the more comical aspects of being part of the “thin blue line.”

Criminal Minds Season Fourteen

Criminal Minds is now an extremely long-running TV show. Beginning in 2005, the series has aired nonstop on CBS and will be showcasing its fourteenth season next year.

Criminal Minds is a crime drama created initially by Jeff Davis. It’s about a group of FBI agents working for the department’s criminal behaviour unit. The series follows their efforts to profile criminals and catch the bad guys. This is a series for people who love forensic investigations.
